The lineup for the  Mitch Lucker Memorial Show that was held last night (12/21/2012) was already filled with some of the biggest names in heavy rock music, but the leaks that there would be some surprise guests had many in the audience speculating as to who that might be.  By evenings end Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), Robb Flynn (Machine Head) and Max Cavalera (Soulfly) had turned up to honor the late Suicide Silence frontman.

The band’s singer, Mitch Lucker, died on November 1, 2012 from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident on Halloween night. In the days following the accident, the group set up a fund for Lucker’s five-year-old daughter that would benefit her future education, which was followed by the idea of a memorial show to honor Lucker, with a who’s who of metal singers invited to sing with the band.

Randy Blythe’s contribution came with him performing the song ‘You Only Live Once,’ a track that had become one of the band’s more popular numbers.

Robb Flynn went a more mellow route, pulling up a chair with members of Suicide Silence to perform a stripped down version of Black Sabbath‘s ‘Die Young.’

Max Cavalera dug into his past with Suicide Silence joining in on Sepultura‘s ‘Roots Bloody Roots.’ The evening also featured performances and testimonials from Hellyeah‘s Chad Gray, Johnny Plague (Winds of Plague), Brook Reeves (Impending Doom), Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria), Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying), Eddie Hermida (All Shall Perish), Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel), Austin Carlile (Of Mice & Men), Anthony Notarmaso (After The Burial), Disfiguring the Goddess’ Cameron “Big Chocolate” Argon (Disfiguring the Goddess), ex-Bury Your Dead member Myke Terry and former Suffokate musician Ricky Hoover

The show was filmed for a DVD release, which will be out in the next few months.   Proceeds from the event, and the forthcoming DVD, will go toward the education of Lucker’s daughter, Kenadee.  To donate to the Mitch Lucker Memorial Fund, click here.
