The cool stuff:

INDIE BAND OF THE WEEK - EMMARIE

Interview with EMMARIE by Kinsey Blake Haynes

Who are you and what is your role in the band?

My name is EMMARIE and I’m the lead singer! I also play instruments depending on the venue/event.

How did the band get started?

Solo, but today one of my favorite things about EMMARIE is that I can go acoustic, with tracks, or with my amazing support band. They are an awesome group of guys I started working with this year, it’s a blast.

Who are your influences and how do they play a role in your sound?

Some of my influences include P!nk, Joan Jett, My Chemical Romance, and newer bands like Bring me The Horizon, Melanie Martinez, and Twenty One Pilots. I love their bad assness, and their originality really inspires me. I love how they mix genres and perceive the world in different ways though music.

What has been your most meaningful experience being in this band so far?

In general, I love when people come up to me and talk about what they think about my music. People tell me how they relate to one of my songs, or a personal experience that reminded them of the song. I’m not sure if they know how much that really means to me.

Favorite memory from a show you’ve played or a place you’ve traveled?

Like I said before, I love meeting people. At this one show a man came up to me and said “I normally don’t listen to your genre, but if people performed it like that, I would.” That has always stuck with me.

What do you hope to accomplish with your music?

I want people to feel. Knowing that music has the ability to make people dance, or make them cry, that’s what I want to accomplish. Through music I can inspire people to change the world.

Something about you that no one knows?

Beyond music, fashion, and makeup…I’m a complete nerd. I would go to every single Con (Comic-con, PAX, Anime convention, etc.) I could. I love seeing cosplay, art, and new video games that are coming out. I love that stuff.

What is next for the band?

I’m opening Kiss 108’s Kiss Concert this weekend, I’m gonna be at at Connecticon in July, and I have a show with Andy Grammer and Train in August. I’m also releasing a new EP very soon.

Anything else you want to add?

I want to thank you for interviewing me! I want everyone out there to know that I REALLY appreciate their support.
