INDIE BAND OF THE WEEK: THE SIXXIS

The name, The Sixxis, was born when the Atlanta ensemble began creating music together as a band on June 6th of 2006. Starting off initially as a college band, The Sixxis has gone through both lineup changes and style experimentation, until reaching what they are currently today. The Sixxis music merges progressive rock with different influences that each member has, for example: blues, jazz, funk, gospel - altogether making their sound unique, bringing the listeners original and powerful songs with a distinctive vocal style, amazing guitar riffs and emotional lyrics. Their influences are Led Zeppelin, Rush, Muse, System of Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains.

RIVAL SONS RETURN TO NORTH AMERICA FOR ADDITIONAL TOUR DATES

Maximum-blues-infused, hard rock band RIVAL SONS just wrapped up their headlining tour with shows in Canada, Europe and the U.K. and now the group have confirmed a string of dates here in the U.S. beginning May 29 in Grand Rapids, MI(itinerary below). The acclaimed Long Beach, CA band--Jay Buchanan (vocals), Scott Holiday (guitar), Robin Everhart(bass) and Michael Miley (drums)--is touring in support of their third album HEAD DOWN, which was released March 19 on Century Media Records and features the single “Keep On Swinging.” The song hit #1 on the Active Rock Radio Charts in Canada and remained at the top for six straight weeks.

NEWS: MUSE BREAKS RECORD FOR MOST WEEKS AT NO. 1 ON BILLBOARD’S ALTERNATIVE CHART

Best-selling British rock band Muse has broken the record for number of weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Chart with "Madness," the debut single off the trio's current album 2nd Law. The 2013 Grammy Award-nominated track has spent 19 weeks at No. 1, surpassing the previous record holder, Foo Fighters' "The Pretender," which peaked in 2007.
